Stone Crabs are found in very large quantities throughout the Bahama Island chain. They are brownish red on the top side and tan on the underside with large but unequal sized claws with black tips. The bodies of stone crabs, after plucking the larger claws, are returned to its water habitat with smaller claws intact.

This permits the crab to continue to feed and protect itself. About a year later the other claw grows back and the process is repeated.

Stone Crabs are protected by a no-take season which is May 16th through October 15th annually.

This product is normally exported to the US market and attracts a very favorable price. Stone Crabs claws are normally enjoyed boiled or in a salad.
